María De Félix

María de Félix was born in Zaragoza (Spain). At an early age she began her musical studies of solfeo, piano and singing. She graduated from “High School of Singing in Madrid“(“Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid”) in year 2005; during such time she took courses with Master Dolores Travesedo. Meanwhile, she also completed her studies in Law at the University of Zaragoza in year 2005.

She obtained the “Monserrat Caballé and Bernabé Martí” Scholarship of Singing awarded by Ibercaja on June 2003. This scholarship entitled her to take part in one Master-Class of Mirella Freni at Módena (Italy).

During such time, She carried out courses of technical voice and coaching with Carlos Chausson, Edelmiro Ernaltes, Suso Mariategui, Lola Arenas, Teresa Tourné, Miguel Zanetti, Rogelio Gavilanes, Marco Bellei, Ana Luisa Chovas, Pedro Lavirgen, Jaume Aragal, Juan Antonio Alvarez Parejo… At the same time, she also kept taking courses with Enzo Spatola, her Spanish coach in Madrid.

She is currently studying in “La Reale Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna” (Italy) being taught by Sergio Bertocchi and Paola Molinari in the subjects of singing and coaching.

She took part in several Festivals for Unicef , in the Auditorium of Zaragoza, alongside tenor S.Sanchez Jericó accompanied by the pianist Miguel Angel Tapia, with a great program of opera and zarzuela.

She has intervened with the tenor Miguel Fleta and the soprano Pilar Lorengar in several recitals.

During 2006, for the 250 Anniversary of Mozart´s birth, she also sang many concerts in Italy, Spain and Portugal.

She won the Trophy to “The most promising voice”(A la voz con más porvenir) of the XXIII International Competition of Singing “Ciudad de Logroño”(Spain) in April 2005. A month afterwards, She obtained a scholarship to extend her studies of singing abroad, awarded by “Juventudes Musicales y Amigos de la Opera de Madrid”(Musicals youth and the Opera´s friends of Madrid).

In November 2005, she won the second prize at the International Competition of Singing “Germans Plá” in Lerida (Spain). On the same month, she was also awarded a burse by the municipality of “Emilia Romagna” in Italy , to follow a course in C.U.B.E.C “Centro Universale del Bel Canto” in Módena (Italy), chaired by Mirella Freni.

In June 2008, during la EXPO 2008 ZARAGOZA, She has debut the opera Carmen , in the role Micaela, receiving very good critiques.

She is the first soprano of “Antología de la Zarzuela”, the best show of this Spanish musical genre that has travelled all around the world, being chosen by José María Chinchilla, Plácido Domingo’s former manager. With this spectacle, she has initiated a tour of concerts along great part of the world, being a great success all the 18 performances in which she took part in Madrid.

In November 2008, for first time in the Teatro Real (Madrid), she has sung a concert in memoria of tenor Miguel Fleta.

Amongst major appearances, the most enthusiastically applauded performances were Cosí fan tutte (Fiordiligi), Boheme (Mimi), Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira), and Carmen (Micaela). Other important appereances performing Zarzuelas were : “Gigantes y Cabezudos”,“El Huésped del Sevillano”,“Agua, Azucarillos y Aguardiente”,”Luisa Fernanda”,”El Manojo de Rosas”,”La Verbena de la Paloma”,”Rosa del Azafrán” …across Spain.
