STUDIO LESSONS
Beginning with proper breathing and support, from which all good singing originates, students receive a firm grounding in relaxed, balanced and healthy vocal placement, creating a free and open sound. We discuss and study physical anatomy, and imagery is used when appropriate. Students also receive strict training in English and foreign language diction, using IPA, and translation/fluency skills are emphasized. Following excellent technique, students receive guidance in interpretation and the deep psychological/anthropological basis for singing, both classical and modern. Fine technique must come first, and then it's the passion and consciousness of the singer that allows the genius to emerge. From age 13 to emerging professionals accepted. Studios in Knoxville, TN, Austin, TX and New York City. Weekly lessons available in Knoxville location only; monthly lessons offered in other locations.
COURSES, LECTURES AND MASTERCLASSES
From time to time, Studio Voix-LA! offers lectures and master classes on a variety of subjects ranging from vocal technique to music history to stage acting and diction.
Current courses include:
· "Singing from the Soul" - A six-week intensive on the psycho-spirituality of singing.
· "When the Spirit Moves Us" - an ecumenical look at the liturgical tradition in Western music
· "Acting for Singers" - stage deportment, natural movement, role research, etc.
