I've come across some fairly rude remarks about House of Opera on usenet, at least, and thought I would like to set the record straight in a review. On the negative side they can take a very, very long time to process orders, which may be why they have attracted criticism. But they sell recordings that are simply not available anywhere else--real fantasy-casting recordings. Definitely a site for collectors--sound quality is very variable indeed, as the site repeatedly warns you. Some of these recordings were made by people in the 1950s with dictaphones in their pockets. But prices are low and you can find recordings you might have dreamed existed, but didn't believe you would ever find (my epiphany was the Arkhipova/Del Monaco Carmen). I don't know about the DVDs, but may experiment.
